ITS LIT BRANDS LLC

The current ITS LIT BRANDS LLC was formed as a result of multiple brands, mergers, aquisitions, companies, and restructering. The entire story begins with DJAB:

D.J.A.B. - c. 2011

When Alex Brown took an interest in sound and lighting at the young age of 10 years old, he worked to get his first speakers and mixer. When he got them in 2011, he began bringing them to friends parties and playing music off an iPod. Natually he became known as a DJ and the name DJAB was created along with a logo and help from his uncle. DJAB always stood for DJ Alex Brown. 

DJAB Entertainment - c. 2015

As Alex grew into more of a DJ business than a solo DJ, and added a photo booth to his offerings, the name entertainment was added to expand the range of offered services. Alex had recently completed his first year of high school which included many business classes. 

DJ Alex Brown - late 2016

In late 2016, Alex broke off DJ Alex Brown as a new brand, keeping the name DJAB Entertainment for private events and weddings, and using DJ Alex Brown for his services specifically, and as a music producer and club DJ. 

DJ Alex Brown Entertainment - late 2019

In late 2019, Alex decided to change DJAB Entertainment to DJ Alex Brown Entertainment for a few reasons, one being people often mispronounced D-J-A-B as D-Jab, secondly, he wanted to differentiate his services and find customers who were looking for exactly what he provided, and not what a company would provide, as he prides himself on skilled DJ'ing.  However, the legal DBA name of the business was still DJAB Entertainment.

IT'S LIT RI / ITS LIT RI LLC - late 2019 to early 2020

At this point in time (2019-2020) IT'S LIT has no relation to DJ Alex Brown

Melanie Davis got married in late 2019 to her husband Chris. She hand built a set of Marquee letters for her wedding, after finding there were no marquee rental companies in RI and the ones she had reached out to were incredibly expensive. After her wedding, people asked if they coud have them for their weddings too, and ITS LIT RI was formed and incoroporated as an LLC. In the coming months, Melanie would serve the community building the letters HOPE and displaying them around RI. This made local headlines!

DJAB Entertainment acquires assets of ITS LIT RI - December 2021

In mid 2021 Melanie and Chris had decided they wanted to move out of Rhode Island, down to the Carolina's. They listed the business for sale an Alex (DJ Alex Brown), made an offer which was accepted. Alex saw the business as an excellent opportunity to expand his entertainment company to the rentals business.  

DJAB Entertainment incorporates as ITS LIT BRANDS LLC - Jan 1, 2024

In an effort to make the legal name of the business better incorporated to the current services, and in an effort to save on taxes and prepare for growth, the former sole proporeitorship DBA DJAB entertainment was incorparated or reformed to IT'S LIT BRANDS LLC on Janurary 1, 2024, which has elected to be treated as an S Corporation, for tax purposes.
